Return to My Native Land chronicles Ian C. Dawkins Moore's experiences crossing the Sahara desert and living in West Africa on a cultural journey of self discovery. It's a coming of age story of a young man of color who goes in search of his African heritage while trying to shed his English upbringing. Filled with historical, geographic and political perspectives, Return to My Native Land pays homage to the passion of the traveler and offers its reader "...a visceral experience of being on the Mammy Wagons, charging through the forests of Ghana; feeling the suffocating heat in the swamplands of Sierra Leone; and connecting with the humanity of the people of this region, that may in a small way increase our own sense of humanity."
